British DJ Sentenced To 1 Year in Jail for Dropping Muslim Prayer Remix At Festival [Details]

Techno DJ Dax J has been sentenced to a year in jail for playing a dance remix the Muslim call to prayer at a Tunisian festival.

Chances are he won’t be serving out his sentence, as he already fled the country. However, he did issue an  to the Muslims he fended: “Sincere apologies to anyone who may have been fended by music that I played at Orbit Festival in Tunisia on Friday. It was never my intention to upset or cause fence to anybody.”

When footage Dax J’s Muslim prayer remix surfaced on social media, the governor Nabeul, Mnaouar Ouertani, shut the club down.

Before the incident, Dax J had played many clubs and festivals across the world, including UK’s Glastonbury. He’s probably not going to be asked back to Tunisia anytime soon, but the club has accepted his apology.

Rough translation the post below states: “Dax J did not intend to provoke your anger or fend you. It is clear, after his apologies, that Dax J is sincere and has no reason to hurt our dear festival-goers.”

“We do not want to interfere in religious debates. Away from us the idea tarnishing the image Islam, which remains a religion peace and forgiveness. So my friends, forgive, and don’t forget that the music is the answer.”
